Offshore Software Development from India: How It Works With Us
Offshore software development means a team in one country builds software for a business in another. We are Global Technology Solutions, based in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. We build software for businesses in India and abroad, and we do it remotely. We have no office or staff outside India.
This page explains what we build, how a project runs when your clock and ours are hours apart, and what to ask any offshore team before you sign, including us.
Our main page for this service: Custom Software.
What we build
Mostly web platforms, business tools and Android apps, connected to the systems you already use.
We built Zavik, a business platform with HR, sales, finance and stock under one login, so projects bigger than a brochure site are familiar ground. Our own work uses React and Node.js, with Python where it fits. If your project needs a different stack, tell us and we will say plainly whether we can take it on.
Typical work:
- Web applications and customer portals, with logins and different roles for different users
- HR, sales, finance and stock software, from a single module to a full business platform
- Multi-tenant SaaS products with subscription billing
- Android apps
- Connections to payment gateways, SMS, email, maps and other systems
- Dashboards and reports, with Excel and PDF export
How a project runs when we are hours apart
We start with a call about who will use the software and what they do. You review an interactive prototype before we build, and during the build we show working progress every week, so nothing is a surprise at the end.
Between calls we send a short written update at the end of our day, so it is waiting when your day begins. A question you send in your evening is usually answered by the time you are back. With the UAE, Japan and the Philippines, office hours overlap for several hours. With Europe and Australia they overlap for part of the day. With the US they barely overlap, so we agree one weekly call in your morning and rely on written updates in between.
We test before anything goes live. At handover you receive the full source code, written documentation and a training session for your technical staff. For 30 days after launch we fix problems at no charge.
Time zones in plain numbers
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year. India does not move its clocks, so the gap to your country changes only when yours does. These gaps are approximate:
- United Kingdom: India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours ahead
- Germany and central Europe: India is 3.5 to 4.5 hours ahead
- UAE: India is 1.5 hours ahead
- US East Coast: India is 9.5 to 10.5 hours ahead
- US West Coast: India is 12.5 to 13.5 hours ahead
- Australia (Sydney and Melbourne): India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind
- Japan: India is 3.5 hours behind
- Philippines: India is 2.5 hours behind
Who owns what
You own the source code. We hand over the full code and Git repository access, with written documentation, so another team can take over later if you wish. You are not tied to us for every change.
If you want an NDA, we sign one before you share anything sensitive. We confirm the payment arrangements in the written quote, before any work starts. We would rather settle that first than leave it for the end.
What to ask any offshore team
These questions are worth asking of every team, in every country, including us. Our own answers are in the sections above.
- Is the scope written down, including what is not included?
- Who will write the code, and who will you speak to?
- How often will you see working software, not only reports?
- Do you get the full source code and repository access?
- What happens when a bug turns up after launch?
- How and when is payment arranged?
- Could another team take over from the code and documentation?
When offshore is not the right fit
Offshore works best when the work can be described and checked from a distance. It is a poor fit if your people must work together in one room every day, or if you need a large team to start next week. If your contracts or regulations say the work must stay in your own country, ask your adviser before you approach any offshore team.
We would rather tell you on the first call than after you have signed.
Where to see our work
Our case studies page has things we built ourselves, such as Zavik, and public projects by other organisations, shown with their sources. They are labelled so you can tell which is which.
You can find both on our case studies page.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office outside India?
No. Our registered office is in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India, and we work with clients remotely, over video calls, screen sharing and chat. We have no offices or staff abroad.
Can we talk during our business hours?
For scheduled calls, yes. We agree a time that works for both sides and send written updates at the end of our day. The list of time gaps above shows how far apart our clocks are.
Who owns the code?
You do. We hand over the full source code and Git repository access, along with written documentation and a training session for your technical staff.
How much does offshore development cost?
It depends on what the software has to do. Larger systems have more features and take longer. After a short call we send you a written quote.
Can you work with our existing tools and developers?
Often yes. Send us a list of the tools you use and tell us how your team works, and we will say what is realistic.
How do you handle security and confidentiality?
We sign an NDA before you share anything sensitive, if you want one. We test before anything goes live and say plainly what we covered. A full security test is a separate service that we also offer.
What happens after launch?
For 30 days after launch we fix problems at no charge. After that, your own team can take over with the code and documentation. If you want us to keep helping, tell us and we will agree it in writing.
Tell us what you want built
Describe who will use the software and what they do. Call +91-86194 70448 or email contact@gtsltd.in. We work remotely, in English, with businesses in India and abroad.
