3D LiDAR Point Cloud Annotation: How It Works and What to Agree First
A LiDAR sensor measures distance with laser pulses and produces a cloud of points in 3D. A model cannot learn from that cloud until someone marks what the points are: a car, a person, a kerb, a tree.
We do this labelling remotely from Chittorgarh, India, for AI teams in India and abroad. We start with a small pilot batch.
Our main page for this service: AI Data Annotation.
What the labelling involves
Typical tasks on a point cloud:
- 3D boxes around objects, with size, position and direction
- Labelling groups of points as road, building, vegetation and so on
- Following the same object across frames, with a consistent ID
- Matching what the camera sees with what the LiDAR sees, if both are provided
What to agree before volume
A written labelling guide decides the quality. It says what counts as an object, how tight a box must be, what to do when something is half hidden, and which classes exist. We write it with you using example frames, including the awkward ones.
Tell us your file format and the tool you use. We say plainly whether we can work in it.
How a pilot works
You send a small sample. We label it to the guide, and you check the result. We agree how accuracy will be measured and the target before we talk about volume.
Keeping your data private
We agree who may see the data, and sign an NDA, before the first file is shared. Tell us about any special handling your data needs and we will say whether we can meet it.
Frequently asked questions
Which LiDAR formats do you handle?
Tell us the format and the tool. We say plainly whether we can work with them after seeing a sample.
Can you label across a sequence of frames?
Yes, tracking an object across frames with a consistent ID is part of the work we do. We agree the rules in the guide.
Do you work with overseas teams?
Yes, remotely and in English. We have no offices outside India.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of frames and how many objects each holds. We quote after seeing a sample.
